My cooperation with you

Counseling is a type of talking therapy. Counseling involves talking with a professional about your feelings and concerns, and working through these concerns. There are many forms of counseling available for a wide range of problems and all approaches emphasize non-judgmental, attentive listening and respect for the client. Counseling aims to enable people to take control of their own lives.

Your first meeting should involve you and me, as the counselor, getting to know each other and deciding to work together. It is more informative session of what you can expect. I will expect questions and be happy to answer them. You might want to talk with me about:

- The counseling approach I'm offering.

- The length of sessions and how often they are held.

- How long the counseling might last for and how it will end.

- How long before you can expect to feel some benefit from the counseling.

- Is it possible to contact me as a counselor between sessions, if you need to do so.

- Are the sessions confidential and when confidentiality might be broken.

- When I might as the counselor refer you to another professional.

- What is the cost per session and whether there is a cancellation fee.
